        Verdict

        MERCURIAL is penalised for an earlier success at Chester but faced a tough task in a conditions race at Beverley last time and will find this easier. Ripon winner Beauzon has failed to build on that success but Sidcot Swallet made a promising start when narrowly beaten over track and trip with Fiji Gold back in fourth and looks a threat. Optimising is bred for middle-distances and Samha is preferred of the newcomers.
