        Verdict

        A small field for this mile and a half handicap but all nine can be given some sort of chance. We have narrowed it down to Ramsgill, Greenbelt and Desperation, with the last named just getting our vote. Jamie Spencer's mount has had to give second best on his last three visits to the racecourse but has come up against some progressive types. This does look a slightly weaker contest and he can gain a deserved victory. Ramsgill is an in and out performer but must have strong claims on the pick of last year's form. The same applies to Amwell Brave, the mount of Eddie Ahern, but a bigger threat may come from Greenbelt. Gary Moore's five-year-old hit winning form at Southwell last time, easily beating Sand Repeal. He has also run well here earlier in the season and looks guaranteed for some place money. Hawkit and Jadeeron are both in good form and can't easily be ruled out and so in a wide open affair Desperation is just a tentative choice.
