Verdict
This is not the best of betting mediums and only a tentative vote goes to Rookery Lad over the likes of Chem's Truce, Cooling Castle and Big Wheel to name but three. Rookery Lad does at least boast some experience over the bigger obstacles and lines up having only found one too good since having his attention switched to fences. Chasing home the highly-rated River City on his chase debut at Stratford was no disgrace, and as he appeared to run out of steam when runner-up at Market Rasen next time, Chris Kellett's charge will find today's less exacting trip more to his liking. Chem's Truce took on fair company over hurdles and can pay to follow in time but may need this first outing since March. Cooling Castle is interesting as his trainer has been very profitable to follow, and with Andy Thornton booked to ride, should be kept on the right side. Dual Kelso scorer Big Wheel has a long absence to overcome so is another that cannot be relied on to be ready. He was nothing special over timber but may be placed to good effect eventually. All in all, Rookery Lad's experience makes him the one to be on.
