Verdict
Harbour Bound can defy a penalty to oblige, with No Sam No, Prince of The Wood and Taffrail best of the opposition. Harbour Bound won a middle-distance maiden for Aidan O'Brien two years ago, but obviously had his problems and was not seen again until turning up at Southwell in July. Not surprisingly he did not show too much then, but has since gained back-to-back successes at Newton Abbot and was a fair second at Sedgefield last time. Sent off as favourite, he could find no extra when the pace quickened and so the step up in trip today will hopefully be in his favour. No Sam No in contrast drops back in trip after finishing third over 27 furlongs at Newton Abbot and should be there or thereabouts, as should Prince of The Wood who stayed on well when beating Destino at Bangor. Taffrail was pulled up as though something was amiss at Bangor last time and remains a disappointment considering that he was a decent stayer for John Dunlop on the Flat. If he ever recaptures a semblance of that ability, he would be one to follow. On this occasion though, Harbour Bound is a much better proposition.
