In depth
Verdict
Stafford King, placed in all seven starts over hurdles this season but unplaced on the level yesterday, will be a popular choice with Placepot backers for this 2m4f handicap but for those looking to find the winner he is probably best ignored. A place again seems the best that his backers can hope for. Similar claims are held by Lady Ward, who also tends to find at least one too good and may be a little high in the handicap at present. More interesting is Jeff King's Walk On By, a winner over fences, who returns to hurdling on a fair mark and with Tony McCoy booked. Wings Of Hope and Strong Arrow should not be discounted but the one with the most solid claims here is Micky Hammond's King Plato, who won hard held at Bangor a week ago and off the same mark has an obvious chance of following up.
