Verdict

Alan Bailey certainly knows how to ready a juvenile and it's fascinating to see Kieren Fallon booked for Burnem Green with Darej another likely looking newcomer but the experience of KEY WEST may see him home. He showed little on debut and was subsequently gelded which appears to have had the desired effect as he showed improved form when beaten under three lengths into fifth at Epsom when getting into stride late on. A drop in trip may not be the obvious move on that evidence but his breeding suggests that he'll have enough speed for this test, he promises to handle cut in the ground and his trainer has an excellent strike rate here with his juveniles. Kieren Fallon has a surprisingly poor record on the rare occasions that he's ridden for Alan Bailey but market support for Burnem Green would still need to be taken seriously whilst Darej has a Group 2 entry so has clearly been showing up well at home and it would be no surprise to see this one sent off as a short-priced favourite as a result. Toparichi's debut fifth behind the smart Formosina brings him into the equation but a chance is taken with Key West who may well be underestimated by the market.
