Verdict

EXCELLENT GUEST has made steady progress in three starts to date and is fancied to be too wily for Serhaal, Rock Of Eire and Firefly Mustique. The last named is related to several winners and is one to bear in mind if the market speaks in his favour. With just five runners, this is likely to be a tactical affair and, as the son of Oasis Dream is hardly being pitched at an unrealistic level; it would be no surprise to see him shake-up the selection. Being out of a Sadler's Wells mare it is debatable whether six furlongs will ideally suit Rock Of Eire; so he may be best left alone for now unless there is significant interest from the market, while Serhaal represents powerful connections and is likely to be priced up accordingly. However, Sir Michael Stoute is noted for his patience with juveniles and, as this Green Desert colt lacks any fancy entries, it's safe to assume he is a long term prospect. Therefore, it can pay to stick with Excellent Guest, who sets a good standard for the time being. A rating of 80 does look harsh for what he has achieved so far. However, the form of his latest start at Ascot has a solid feel to it and Excellent Guest is a strong fancy to get off the mark in this company.
