Verdict

CHAIRMAN PAT is preferred to Bab At The Bowster and Pastello. Tom Dascombe's colt has been supported on each of his three outings this term, finishing second on his most recent start at Lingfield. Ideally for this track, he does have plenty of early speed and having proven himself over the trip, he is interestingly tried here rather than in nurseries. Bab At The Bowster was supported at Ascot on debut and was far from disgraced. The second in that race has gone on to oblige in a Windsor maiden on Monday, and there is plenty of evidence in the pedigree to suggest that she will have few issues in relation to an extra furlong. Pastello ran green on introduction at Newmarket. She has a particularly likeable pedigree, as her dam was a Listed class sprinter. French Connexion was predictably outclassed in the Weatherby's Super Sprint. The suspicion is that she has probably plateaued from a formbook perspective. Dream Spinner has not been knocked around in two starts thus far. He is stoutly bred on the dam's side and is probably one to look out for over further in time. Saint Thomas is an interesting debutant. A well-bred son of Alharaath, it will be no easy task to take on battle-hardened rivals giving weight all around to the majority. Chairman Pat gets the casting vote this afternoon.
