In depth
Verdict
A bit of a lottery for our final event, with Lord Chamberlain, Scarrottoo and My Girl Pearl all holding some sort of claim, however we will look for value and plump for Hammer Of The Gods. Julian Poulton's four-year-old has shown plenty of promise in two outings this season. The first was over course and distance when finishing third to Threezedzz, that was followed by the same placing behind Beauvrai. Having had almost two years off there should be plenty of scope for improvement. My Girl Pearl comes here following a recent victory at Chepstow and should be in at the finish again. As should Scarratto who finished a close up third behind Mandarin Spirit at Epsom last week. The main danger to the selection though could be Lord Chamberlain, who makes a quick reappearance after finishing a close up fifth in a similar race to this on Sunday. So not a race to stake the mortgage, but Hammer Of The Gods does look the best of a modest bunch.
