    Verdict

A wide draw did PIECE OF HISTORY no favours at Kempton on his handicap debut. The Godolphin colt used up plenty of energy to take up the running and paid the price in the last half-furlong. He gets another chance with further progress on the cards while Nicklaus can figure dropping back down in class though his earlier double came over 7f. Plunger and Rebel Assault are other winners over 7f but Data Protection won twice over a mile before beaten in soft ground at Thirsk and makes more appeal than Courtside back on a faster surface today.
