My Brother Mike was still beaten four lengths when second at Ripon last week having slid down the weights but GRAND CANAL went close at Salisbury on his handicap debut. Tom Clover’s charge looks the one to beat on that form given today’s moderate opposition. Elsie Violet has shown only a modicum of improvement for a slip down the handicap and Saga Sprint finished closer here last time without looking like winning. Madame Winner and Break Cover go handicapping for the first though neither have shown any worthwhile form as of yet.
