In depth
Verdict
The Mick Channon-trained Active Asset showed enough on his debut to be given the nod over Marians Maid and Ringarooma in this ordinary maiden. There are a few newcomers that could cloud the picture though and moves for: Double Kudos, Gibraltar Bay and Call Me Max should not be ignored. The last mentioned has an eye-catching, if not outstanding pedigree and it will be very interesting to see how much support he comes in for, while Double Kudos is related the useful hurdler Tulipa and looks sure to need further than this to be seen to the best effect. By way of contrast, the selection, being by Sinndar out of a half-sister to the top-class Alydaress, showed plenty of dash on his debut and can be expected to have learnt a great deal from his first outing. Active Asset should also appreciate this extra furlong and, with experience of the course already behind him, he looks the one to beat in a race that makes limited appeal for a huge play. Ringarooma is also entitled to have come on from her first run and may be the one to give Active Asset the most to do.
