In depth

A wide-open finale but Tim Easterby saddles a couple of interesting runners. Something was clearly amiss with Intello Boy on his final start last year at Ayr but Eclipse De Lunar may also be on a decent mark. The latter beat a decent field in a novice stakes at Ayr in September and didn’t get the run of the race in a Class 2 here subsequently. Mark Johnston has three entries with Fairmac the most stoutly bred but also the most exposed. Kondom Imasi lacks a recent run but Happy was probably a bit unlucky over 1m2f at Beverley, though the winner has let the form down since. Farhan is due to go up 4lb next week after a close second at Salisbury so must have every chance and he’s bred for this trip but a similar comment applies to DOCTOR PARNASSUS. Danny Tudhope’s mount gave backers of the long odds-on Noman an almighty fright at Ayr and this progressive maiden will relish the extra quarter-mile. Currency Exchange and Irish import Tashkhan are also worth a second look.

Kondo Isami (IRE) 10-3 (9-5) Made most, ridden approaching final furlong, ran on, readily, won at Chelmsford City 1m 2f stks (5) pol in Dec beating Stiletto (9-5) by 3l, 6 ran.

Happy (IRE) 10-3fav (9-9) Prominent, led after 3f, under pressure and ridden over 2f out, hung left inside final furlong, headed inside final 110 yards, just failed, 2nd of 12, nk behind Sonning (9-3) at Beverley 1m 2f hcp (5) gf in Apr.

Currency Exchange (IRE) 11-1 (9-7) Held up towards rear, pushed along and headway over 2f out, switched left and further progress inside final 110 yards, finished well, 3rd of 11, 4 1/4l behind Annandale (9-6) at Nottingham 1m 2f hcp (4) gf in Apr.

Thomas Cochrane (IRE) 7-1 (9-7) Tracked leaders in 4th until lost place halfway, rallied into modest 4th final furlong, 4th of 7, 9 3/4l behind Law Of The Sea (9-9) at Leicester 1m 4f stks (4) gf in Apr.

Fairmac 10-11fav (9-9) Raced wide tracked leaders, pushed along 3f out, ridden to chase leader over 1f out, every chance inside final furlong, not quicken towards finish, 3rd of 5, hd behind Valparaiso (9-6) at Doncaster 1m 4f hcp (5) gf in Apr.

Eclipse De Lunar (IRE) 11-1 (8-8) Held up in last pair, pushed along on near side rail over 2f out, not clear run and switched left inside final 2f, kept on same pace inside final furlong, 6th of 11, 2 1/4l behind The Flying Ginger (8-10) at York 1m (2) sft in Oct.

Farhan (IRE) 4-1 (9-3) Reared start and very awkwardly away, behind, headway on far rail 2f out, went 2nd inside final furlong, strong challenge close home, just failed, 2nd of 6, shd behind No Recollection (9-7) at Salisbury 1m 2f hcp (4) gd in May.

Intello Boy 8-1 (8-8) Always in rear, last of 7, 11 3/4l behind Recovery Run (9-3) at Ayr 1m (2) gs in Sep.

Doctor Parnassus (IRE) 11-2 (8-11) Tracked leader, shaken along over 4f out, pushed along and brief headway over 1f out, hung left inside final furlong, ran on inside final 110 yards, always held by winner, 2nd of 3, 3/4l behind Noman (9-4) at Ayr 1m 2f stks (5) gf in Apr.

Tashkhan (IRE) 9-2 (9-0) Soon prominent and led soon after 1f, pushed along on outer into straight, soon joined, regained lead inside final furlong, stayed on well to assert closing stages, won at Navan 1m 2f hcp hvy in Mar beating Sassified (9-12) by 3 3/4l, 17 ran.

Haveyoumissedme 22-1 (8-10) Raced near side, held up and behind, headway chasing leaders over 2f out, stayed on inside final furlong, led close home, won at Newmarket 1m 1f (4) hvy in Oct beating Side Shot (9-7) by nk, 9 ran.
