In depth

Formwatch

Tayif Steadily coming down the handicap but has shown little spark of late and looks to face another stiff task.

First Maite Possibly unsuited by the firm ground at Pontefract last time, but had previously gone close in a fair contest and a repetition of that form would see him in the shake up here.

Salviati (USA) Stable can do little wrong at present and there was much to like about his staying on finish in a big field at Kempton last time; any market move would be significant.

Technician (IRE) In fine form at the moment with two good wins but has shot up the handicap and well do very well to go in again.

Trouble Mountain (USA) Has been campaigned over a variety of trips recently with little success and looks up against it again today.

Debbie's Warning Probably better over a furlong further and unlikely to trouble the judge at this trip.

Jodeeka Won with something in hand over the minimum trip at Ripon last time, but has never scored over 6 furlongs and looks worth opposing on that basis.

Pips Magic (IRE) On a handy mark at present and was noted keeping on well over a shorter trip last time; possible each-way claims.

Sharp Hat Real speed merchant who races up with the pace but will struggle to last home over this trip and might struggle.

Pepperdine (IRE) Badly out of sorts of late and makes little appeal.

Effervescent Saves his best for the sand tracks at Southwell and Wolverhampton and doesn't look half as good on turf.

Lord Omni (USA) Stable have been going quite well of late and ignore his recent run over a trip in excess of his best; chances if running up to the form of his Southwell win previously.

Desaru (USA) Handicapper is gradually relenting and he comes into the reckoning on his best form of last term. Has been tried over a variety of distances but this looks about right for him and he could run well at a big price.

Grey Cossack Hard to enthuse over on balance of form and looks set to struggle in a tough race.

Air Mail Has won over a variet of trips but isn't the same horse on turf as he is on the all-weather and it's hard to see him figuring at the business end of matters here.

Ryefield Won with a bit to spare at Ayr last time and could defy the handicapper with another bold show; K Darley takes the mount again.

Hilton Head First time in a handicap and has the assistance of Pat Eddery so should not be dismissed lightly; interesting conteneder.

Full Spate Doesn't win too many but put up a good effort at Newbury last time and could go well again under his good apprentice rider.

Nifty Major Saves his best for Musselburgh but finished fast last time after being hampered at a vital stage and could be worth considering here.

Charming Lotte Soft ground specialist who needs every drop of rain the Knavesmire can offer to have a serious chance.

College Maid (IRE) Rarely wins these days and looks held on the balance of form.

Effervesce (IRE) Pulled hard on reappearance and looks to have a stiff task at these weights; hard to fancy.

Rex Is Okay Capable but somewhat erratic sort but not without hope if on a going day.
