Verdict
A punters nightmare to close the card. And only a tentative vote is given to Greenslades, while Artie, Fictional and Connect have all got solid course form to their names that brings them right into the argument. It would also be very dangerous to completely rule out the old boy Halmahera, as he typically ran a good race in defeat in the Great St Wilfred last Saturday and looks to be coming back to himself. However, Doncaster is the real place for him and this looks to be a further stepping stone for him in his build up to the Portland next month. Connect ran a couple of solid races here last month and is thriving on being kept busy. He should not be underestimated even though his task is made a bit harder by carrying top weight. Fictional is less exposed than a few of these and bids to get back on the right track today. The decision for him to race alone on the far side at Haydock was his undoing last time and much better effort is expected today. Artie is another that goes well at this time of year and is in fair heart at present. Watch the betting where he is concerned. However, slender preference is given to Greenslades now that he has rediscovered what it takes to win a race. Darryll Holland was seen at his best when allowing the six-year-old to dominate his field at Newmarket eighteen days ago. And as those tactics lend themselves well to racing at York, a similar performance can initiate a follow up today.
