This race may not be quite as competitive as the numbers suggest, and the in-form Momtic is fancied to land another victory, with the main danger being the three-year-old, Elliots World. The latter loves to force the issue and is in good heart, so ought to run a big race from stall 8. A line through Cesare gives him the beating of Langford, who was second to that horse at Pontefract last time but is creeping up the weights. Ballast was second in the Hunt Cup here in June and although slightly disappointing at Newmarket last time, he wasn't beaten that far and should run a big race once again here. He should again have the beating of My Paris, who returned to form with a win last time, but is possibly at his best over seven furlongs. For the winner, though, we turn to Momtic. Willie Jarvis' colt has improved throughout the season, scoring over nine furlongs at Epsom before going down by the narrowest of margins to Ace Of Hearts over this trip at Sandown. The winner has franked the form by subsequently landing another decent handicap, and with conditions very much in his favour, Momtic gets our vote.
