Verdict
An interesting renewal of the Lowther in which Carry On Katie and Silca's Gift look to be the leading players, with the vote going to the former. The daughter of Fasliyev hacked up on her debut at Ascot from Three Secrets, looking very useful in the process. The going will be quicker today but we'll take the view that she will handle it. Silca's Gift won the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, beating Tolzey, who is now two pounds worse off, by three lengths. Of the others, Badminton won well on her only start so far, in a race that has produced winners so she is entitled to improve. Dunloskin was in need of the run when second at Goodwood on her debut and, while she looks to have plenty of improvement in her, she might just find the selection too sharp for her. Valjarv finished a decent third in a Listed event at Newmarket last time and connections will be hopeful of claiming some prize money, while Mark Johnston runs Venetian Pride, who will have to improve on what she has so far achieved. Overall, then, the well regarded Carry On Katie is the selection.
