Verdict

Oasis Dream is likely to start a short price but looks very difficult to oppose in this year's renewal of the Nunthorpe. The ultra-convincing victor in the July Cup really thrust himself into the higher echelons of sprinting and any reproduction of that effort should see him take a below average renewal of York's premier sprinting prize. Dandy Nicholls holds his customary strong hand with Continent and Bahamian Pirate. They both finished behind the selection at Newmarket and look set to fight out minor honours on the Knavesmire. The Tatling comes here fresh from a Group 3 success at Goodwood and anything he achieves here must be a bonus for Milton Bradley. Acclaimation has chances if reproducing his second to Choisir in the King's Stand (Oasis Dream and Dominica behind) but his subsequent efforts have been well below the standard required to take today's prize. Danehurst would need softer ground while the remainder do not appeal as good enough. While the odds may be prohibitive - it is unlikely that we have seen the best of Oasis Dream and we will choose not to oppose him here.
