In depth

Verdict

Welcome Approach has got his act together well since he switched to turf and he can get the better of City For Conquest and Magnolia Blossom. It will also be interesting to see if Figaro Flyer takes her chance after her exploits in the seller here yesterday. However, she has more on her plate in this company and has something to find. Magnolia Blossom was a real eye catcher when she won on her debut at Beverley. Still, she failed to reproduce the goods last time and now has a something to prove. City For Conquest was a surprise winner at Doncaster nine days ago but went about the task in good style. Her stable has been flying of late and any market support could prove to be significant. Nevertheless, a mark of 81 does look a little harsh for what she has achieved and the 2lb she concedes to the selection could make all the difference today. Especially as Robert Winston has been charged with doing the steering aboard Welcome Approach today. The John Weymes-trained colt showed the benefit of experience when getting off the mark at Musselburgh before going on to give a good account of himself at Ayr last week. His short-head defeat inflicted at the hands of the 95-rated The Bear reads well in the context of this race and he need only run to that form to add to his tally this afternoon.
