In depth

Verdict

Roaring Forte's absence is of some concern but he looked a horse of some potential last year and is taken to get the better of Kalahari Gold. The selection ran a race full of promise on debut when fourth at Newmarket just behind Virtual and in front of the likes of Foolin Myself and Resurge. He was 1-10 to win his next start but won as a horse that price should and looks to have been given a chance by the handicapper. His yard has been going great guns and is sure to have him ready to do himself justice. There was plenty to like about the debut win of Kalahari Gold and the form has already been franked by the runner-up. This clearly requires him to take a step forwards but he's an interesting prospect who merits respect. Carniolan was unfortunate to bump into Main Aim last time but he was only narrowly beaten and is on a fair mark. The Swinburn yard is another going well and his chance shouldn't be underestimated. They are the three to concentrate on in this race with the remainder lacking the same scope for improvement. This should be interesting, Roaring Forte is the pick.
