Verdict
ALENQUER (NAP) arrives on the back of winning the Classic Trial at Sandown where he beat subsequent Derby hero Adayar with the re-opposing pair Yibir and Belloccio further behind. He’ll have improved for that comeback run and the Haggas colt should see out this extra distance. Gear Up won a Group 1 in France last year though on heavy going and he folded tamely in the Derby last time while The Mediterranean was supplemented for this after going close in Listed company at Leopardstown. Title only won a maiden at Yarmouth but the runner-up is rated 97 having placed in Listed company and Roger Varian’s charge is preferred to Tasman Bay while Kempton maiden winner Gloucestershire is held in high regard having been aimed at the Derby before suffering a setback.
