        Verdict

        Elusive Dream could be thrown in here and is selected over the likes of Pagan Dance, Sergeant Cecil and Loves Travelling, with improving Roehampton another to consider. This should be very competitive on paper but Elusive Dream has been cleaning up in lesser company and deserves a crack at this prize. He has gone up over 20lb since winning on the all-weather in July, but showed that he is up to this level almost when a good third at York the time before last. The longer trip brought out the best in him at Ayr last time, and although today's distance may be on the short side, a good gallop should help and there is no doubting that he is on the upgrade. Pagan Dance has the class but has been out of form and hung under pressure when asked to go about his business at Doncaster, while Sergeant Cecil, a course and distance winner, has been finding one too good and is worth taking on again. Loves Travelling won the Cumberland Plate in the summer and was very unlucky in running at Haydock last time. With Mr Ascot himself, Frankie Dettori in the saddle, he will be fancied to go close along with Rooehampton, the mount of Kieren Fallon. Sir Michael Stoute's three-year-old was having his first outing in four months when third at Doncaster in a first-time visor. He needs to improve but is one to note, and on this occasion we prefer the claims of Elusive Dream.
