In depth
Verdict
We are going to apply the formula of official ratings in the claimer and opt for The Prince ahead of York Cliff, with Travelling Band, Soller Bay and Yenaled among others to hold chances. In fact, if you add Cat's Whiskers, Cherished Number, Crathorne, Scotty's Future and Ben Hur to the above list then you have the best-rate horses in the line-up. It is hard to fault The Prince of late as he now won four of his five races this season. Given that he is three pounds better off for the two lengths that he beat Travelling Band at Goodwood on August 29 then his chance here is there for all to see. Course winner Cherished Number has to be considered, Crathorne holds place claims on the best of his recent efforts, while Yenaled is holding his form pretty well and also competes well at this level, while Soller Bay could yet bounce back to his best, in which case he has to be feared. Once again, though, in a competitive race on what is very competitive day of racing, the vote goes to The Prince.
