In depth
Verdict
This is wide-open and there will be plenty that come in for support but we will side with Trojan Flight in this sprint handicap, with Hout Bay, Mister Mal and Blue Power others that could also go well. Hout Bay comes here seeking a straight hat-trick of wins but has a five-pound rise for the latest of them to defy to score, but Trojan Flight also comes here in very good heart and, only lightly raced, has to be seriously considered as long as his rider can get him stoked up early enough. We think that he will and,as such, he gets the call. Viewforth is very well-weighted if able to get back to his best form of the last two years, so do not rule out a good run, while Mister Mal is a pound better off for the short head that he was beaten by Hout Bay last time. The locally-trained Strawberry Patch is three pounds above a recent winning mark but could go well, and Kings College Boy, Ballybunion and Blue Power are among those that have shown that they can go well in this type of affair. With regard to the draw, if the rain really gets into the ground then low numbers might be favoured but, as things stand, there may be no discernible bias and, accordingly, we will stick with Trojan Flight.
