In depth
Verdict
This does not appear to be the most competitive contest of its type and Lauro is given the vote over Samuel Charles and Western Roots. The last mentioned comes here on the back of a win in a Leicester claimer but this looks tougher than that contest and a bigger threat may come from the consistent Samuel Charles. Mark Brisbourne's horses are in good form at present and this son of Green Desert has held his form well since landing a similar race to this at Redcar last month. However, the six-year-old probably needs to improve again to trouble Lauro. Julie Camacho's filly seemed not to stay 10 furlongs at Beverley last time but holds solid claims on the strength of her earlier length-and-a-quarter second to subsequent Sandringhan Stakes winner Celtic Heroine at Hamilton. That form is easily the best of offer here and Lauro is taken to go one better today. Roger Fisher's Stoic Leader seems to be a shade high in the weights now having completed a hat-trick in handicap-company last month and of more interest may be Jim Goldie's Tony Tie, who showed signs of a return to form at Hamilton recently and hails from a stable back among the winners. Very few of the others can be given much of a chance in a race that is taken to go to Lauro.
