Verdict
A desperate contest to end the day's proceedings and what can only be a tentative vote goes to Morvern, who is preferred to Merrymaker and Caymans Gift. The last mentioned is less exposed than most of these and makes his debut in a handicap today however the four-year-old would not appear to be particularly well treated. Merrymaker is exposed but at least hails from a stable in form and trainer Mark Brisbourne places his horses to good effect. He rates a bigger threat than the reappearing Wise Tale and Dunlea Dancer, who hails from the stable of Mark Johnston, whose horses are running very in and out at present. Micky Hammond's Mr Moon receives plenty of weight but has given little sign of encouragement of late and of more interest may be Tim Easterby's Gaiety Girl, although she is set to go down 2lbs in future handicaps. The vote then goes to James Given's Morvern, who is well treated on his best form and showed signs of a return to form behind Best Port ion a hotter race than this at Redcar last month.
