A weak affair can go the way of Wavertree Girl ahead of Champagne Cracker and Cefira, with Amber Fox best watched on her return. Not too many of these have realistic claims and Wavertree Girl makes the journey up from Newmarket with the best credentials. Nick Littmoden's filly was thought good enough to take her chance in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Royal Ascot last year, and was not disgraced in fourth. Amazingly, she is still a maiden, but showed enough when a close seventh in a class D handicap at Newbury last week, to warrant sticking with here. She obviously has not progressed enough but will not have to against this moderate opposition, the best of whom may be Champagne Cracker, one of two Linda Perrett entries. Champagne Cracker patently needed her comeback run at Redcar and should strip fitter now. She had enough bits and pieces of place form last term to be in with a shout for a place, and along with Cefira, can give the selection, Wavertee Girl, most to do.
