        Verdict

        Patxaran is taken to get the better of Safirah, with Charnock Bates One the other put forward for the shortlist. The selection has won each of her last two starts and she won in good style last time when beating Friends Hope at Ripon. She still looks to be one step ahead of the handicapper and with a useful apprentice taking 5lbs off his back he looks the one to beat. Safirah was well beaten last time and although she has shown some ability in her previous starts she will need to improve to get her head in front today. However, this is not a strong contest so that is not out of the question. Charnock Bates One finished in mid-division at Redcar last time but her best form has been on a soft surface and for that reason we will take her on, even though her yard is in good form at present. Real Cool Cat is the Mark Johnston representative here so she is entitled to respect, but she will need to step-up on what she has shown thus far and for the winner we are happy to return to the in-form Patrick Haslam filly Patxaran.
