In depth

Verdict

Henry Hall was an unlucky loser last time and can make amends today at the main expense of Rudi's Pet, Distant Times and Winthorpe. The selection has been given a chance by the handicapper having dropped to a really favourable mark, and he would probably have won last time out had he got a clearer run when narrowly beaten into second behind by One Way Ticket at Ripon. He goes well on this track and has a fair draw so he looks to have every chance of regaining the winning thread. Rudi's Pet was a fair second behind Full Spate over 6f at Ripon last time, and although he is now a veteran, the return to 5f will suit and he should go well from a favourable draw. Distant Times is from an in-form yard and he won well last time when beating Glencairn Star. However, that was over 6f and that is probably his best trip these days. Winthorpe will be suited by the return to the minimum trip and the booking of Johnny Murtagh catches the eye for him., so he is certainly one to note in the market. Rectangle was disappointing last time but is on a good mark at present and he has certainly been given a chance by the handicapper. However, Henry Hall looked like a winner waiting to happen at Ripon last time and with conditions to suit he is taken to score.
