Verdict
Kings College Boy can pounce to beat the other two well-drawn fancied runners On The Trail and Mister Mal, with Roman Mistress worth a mention at least. The draw will prove important here as usual, with those drawn high favoured again, and it appears as though Kings College Boy may have the race set up for him by his two main rivals who both like to make the running. On The Trail did just that from a good draw at Pontefract last time, while Mister Mal also dominated at Southwell, but like On The Trail, just hung on in the end. Kings College Boy returned to winning ways at Chester where he did very well to come from off the pace and mow down Endless Summer. Expect a similar effort here, and although he is a bit higher in the weights, his ability to act in the ground is a plus-point. Roman Mistress won a shade cosily at Nottingham but has it to do from stall six, as does old-stager Soaked in five. The selection's stablemate Hout Bay has five lengths to find on Chester running but is consistent enough to challenge for the frame, without being good enough to stop Kings College Boy from following up.
