Verdict

Aksum is a possible improver under talented 7lb claimer George Wood but any improvement would have to be considerable to cope with FRANK BRIDGE on the evidence of the stylish success here last month of Eve Johnson Houghton's gelding. Always travelling well, the son of Avonbridge put matters to rest with a telling turn of foot and should prove capable of handling an 8lb rise in the ratings for that decisive success. But he does have to reverse placings with Ettie Hart on their running here in early June when the Channon inmate proved superior though the selection has improved since. Ettie Hart is an obvious threat, along with Harmony Bay and Let There Be Light, whilst Secret Sonnet is the one to track in the market for a shrewd yard.
