Verdict
It is impossible to know how much ability Simply Gifted retains after a 783 day absence on his first start for Jonjo O'Neill so the vote goes to Maragun, who gets the verdict over Imaginaire. The last mentioned represents the in form stable of Venetia Williams and is entitled to improve for his reappearance at Plumpton earlier this month when a respectable fourth behind Inaki. However, Maragun makes more appeal. Martin Pipe's gelding was the best of these over hurdles, is lightly raced over hurdles and is potentially well treated on his return to the larger obstacles. Richard Lee's Bunkum is another who is well in on his best hurdles form but the son of Robellino needs to step up on previous efforts this term to take a hand here. Dr Philip Pritchard saddles no fewer than four runners but with Damien's Choice, Premier Generation and Blazing Batman all out of the weights proper, the most solid claims are probably held by Good Lord Murphy. Special Agenda is capable but inconsistent and the best bet may be to follow Martin Pipe's Maragun, who is taken to take advantage of what looks a favourable mark.
