Verdict

A disappointing turn out for the prize money on offer but connections of Asador won't be complaining. The Paul Nicholls-trained gelding showed respectable form last term but was outclassed in the Grand Annual on his final outing. However, the son of Kadounor bounced back when a comfortable four-length winner over course and distance on his seasonal return late last month and, with ground conditions holding no terrors, is the selection to overcome a subsequent 5lb rise. Harvis lost his way a little earlier in the year but has dropped to an attractive mark and hinted at a return to something like his best when runner-up on his return from a break at Fakenham this month. The Venetia Williams-trained mud lover will improve for the outing and should go well off the same mark while Claymore is unexposed over fences and is not without claims on his heavy-ground novice success at Uttoxeter last month.
