Verdict

A valuable Conditions Stakes race and one in which Shank On Fourteen can get the better of Nights Cross, Majestic Missile and the American raider America America. The selection won his second and third races before disappointing when not getting the run of things at Windsor. A seventh when conceding a penalty in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot has been his only run since, which means that he comes here fairly fresh. In the week that precedes the Open Golf Championship, a win for the Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke-owned colt would be appropriate. Majestic Missile has had just two runs, and came good at Kempton last time. The highly-promising son of Royal Applause and a Dancing Brave mare is fully entitled to respect here. International flavour is added by the presence of America America, who was fifth in a decent Listed race at Newmarket last time and this speedy individual could well make them all go. Nights Cross is progressing with every run and came good at Beverley last time, and while more will be needed, he should still go well. The others have a bit to find, so we'll stick with Shank On Fourteen in an interesting event.
