In depth

Verdict

A competitive contest gets Proceedings under way but those with experience look to have an advantage. King Harald has shown ability on both his starts so far. The gelding from the Mark Bradstock yard was a fair third behind Diceman over this course and distance last time out and a reproduction of that form would see him go close. Kali Des Obeaux would have a good chance on her second behind Translucid but she has since been well beaten at Southwell when an odds on favourite. Polish Cloud won on this course on his debut when defeating Carrigafoyle. But this looks a more competitive affair, and he is not sure to be suited by this longer trip under his penalty. Abzuson won a bumper at Hexham a couple of runs ago. But the gelding from the John Norton yard was beaten under a penalty in that sphere at Newcastle last time out. However the gelding by Abzu is bred to be better over this longer trip. Of the remainder St Matthew is from a yard that has done well with it's novice hurdlers this season but he showed very little on the flat. Waterspray is also worthy of consideration after a fair third behind the highly regarded Laouen at this course over a shorter trip last time out.
