Verdict
Although Mumbling has to be respected after a better effort in a claimer here last time, he has tended to struggle in handicaps and may be worth opposing tonight with a small stakes interest in Hattington, who has strong claims if he runs up to the best of his capabilities. Billy Bathwick and Distant Cousin also come into the reckoning on that score and have to be respected. However, at the likely odds, Hattington appeals as the more adventurous selection and he may be able to cause a minor upset here. The Martin Todhunter-trained gelding found a-mile-and-six just a little beyond him last time and will better suited by this slightly shorter trip. He acted well on his only other visit to Doncaster and may benefit from the way this unfolds if there is only a modest pace on early. Sualda is another to watch out for in the near future and will be very interesting when dropped to a mile at somewhere like Redcar.
