Verdict
A typically competitive renewal of the Cammidge Trophy in which the market should offer the best clues. Top-weight Reel Buddy should be fit enough to win this but his best form is over a fast ground 7f and he may find things happening a bit quickly today. Bentinck Stakes first and second Needwood Spirit and Orientor reoppose in this contest with the latter three pounds better off for a length beating. Ayr Gold Cup winner, Funfair Wane is an interesting entrant although his best form tends to be later on in the season and we will watch him today. Red Carpet, on the other hand, takes a step down in class. He has been highly tried since his two-year-old days and clearly must still be showing something at home if connections have continued to persevere with him at five. With Peruvian Chief a much better performer on artificial surfaces, our vote goes to his stable companion, Smokin Beau. Kevin Darley's mount was a much improved performer over 5f and 6f last term and he has shown he is capable of going well when fresh.
