Verdict
An awful contest where making any selection could look ridiculous but we will take the David Pipe-trained Don't Ask Me to be just about good enough from Madison Avenue, Lord Of Adventure and Barton Beau. Like all of these Don't Ask Me is not the most consistent sort, and he was left behind towards the end when beaten 22 lengths at Folkestone last time. However he does not get that bottomless ground here, and seems to handle this sort of surface better, so in the hope that he will we will take him to go in. Madison Avenue finished three quarters of a length to the good over Lord Of Adventure last time out and with a 5lb pull he can confirm those placings. He may even be good enough to win, as the selection is no good thing, and don't be surprised if he does! Barton Beau returns from a long lay off and on his old form would definitely have a squeak, but it remains to be seen if advancing years have reduced his ability and so we will chance Don't Ask Me as a very tentative selection.
