Mouseski gets the vote here ahead of Monte Cristo and Batswing. Formerly a decent hunter chaser, Mouseski made a good restart to his Rules career at Chepstow last time, winning with a bit up his sleeve, Despite his penalty, he is still two pounds well in based on what the handicapper has decided to put him up to, and he can make a bold bid to win again. Monte Cristo won for the fourth time in his last 10 races when scoring at Stratford, a course he likes last time, and as that was his first run in a while, he can go well again, although he is now three pounds higher that for his previous best winning mark. The Newsman is eight pounds above a winning mark and, despite the fact that he is a course and distance scorer, that fact inclines us towards the selection. Now with Gary Moore, Batswing is six pounds lower in the ratings than when winning quite a valuable Punchestown handicap in 2003 so, if his fire has been rekindled, he is one to consider, but Fiery Peace, despite being consistent, looks to have a bit to find to land the spoils today. Once again, then, the vote goes to Mouseski.
