Verdict
Golden Rose may be worth chancing in a poor contest and is the TEAMtalk selection. Tommy McGovern's 10-year-old is largely inconsistent but did run well when chasing home Merchants Friend at Plumpton two starts ago when out of the weights proper. Now racing of his proper mark, 4lbs lower than at Plumpton, and better treated than he has been for some time, the son of Roselier has more going for him than most. The trip is wrong for The Sawdust Kid (wants further) and Iro Origny (better over shorter), topweight Hidden Affair looks handicapped to the hilt, while likely favourite Tullons Lane has been raised 10lbs for a facile win here last time when the main market rivals took the wrong course. Stopwatch has to be respected with his stable in such good form at present, while the biggest danger to the selection could be The Newsman who is only 4lbs higher than when winning a similar contest at Plumpton in October. The consistent The Hearty Joker tends to find at least one too good and will probably do so again.
