Verdict

SOHCAHTOA has more weight than the typical winner of this race but may prove up to the task. Dangers can be found everywhere with Rapid Release and Jazacosta two of the likelier ones. The form of the selection has already been advertised this week by the performance of Gyr and may receive a further boost if Total Gallery and Gallagher run well in the Richmond. The selection had finished one place in front of the latter at Newbury before going on to account for Total Gallery and Gyr amongst others over six furlongs here in May. He should cope with the step up to seven furlongs well enough and the stable's juveniles continue to perform well. A case can be made for Jazacosta on a line through him as Amanda Perrett (who saddled last year's winner) sent the colt out to finish third in the same Newbury contest on his second start. He's done nothing wrong since, receives weight today and merits respect. Rapid Release was just touched off by a Mark Johnston runner at Catterick but the front two pulled a long way clear and that may not have been too bad an effort. Mark Johnston saddles two in opposition here and it's not easy to choose between the pair with improvement expected from both whilst Richard Hannon also has two other chances in addition to the selection. Cornish Rose could be on a handy mark and should fare better back up in trip but she has the worse of the draw and we'll take Sohcatoa to hit the target.
