In depth
Verdict
Milton Bradley has a seriously good record in races of this nature at this course and we take the hint with Johannian, who is selected over the lightly weighted Knickyknackienoo, Burgundy and Londoner, who are all entitled to respected at a track that should suit each with their style of running. The last named comes here on the back of a confidence boosting win at Lingfield, where today's jockey yet again showed her worth in the saddle. However, this one-time favourite for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham has never been the most reliable horse to follow and others make slightly more appeal. Burgundy and Knickyknackienoo have already enjoyed a good season and arriver with sound claims at this level. The latter especially, as he has a feather weight to carry today and should reverse recent form with Londoner on these terms. However, Johannian has dropped to a remarkably fair mark on the best of his past achievements and, considering that he was 33lb higher in the ratings two years ago, would only need to recapture a glimmer of that ability to sweep past this lot here. His recent form has been most encouraging and Johannian is given another chance to come good in this low-grade affair.
