In depth

Verdict

Horses rated in the mid-seventies have two ways of going in races of this nature and it can be a flip of the coin in deciding which way to go. However, Maid To Treasure has a sound edge in terms of experience and the toss comes down in his favour over Royal Lustre and Corsican Native, who head the shortlist of alternatives. The latter makes a belated seasonal bow over a trip that was always going to suit this stoutly-bred colt even though his dam was fairly useful over seven furlongs during her brief career for Henry Cecil. he has plenty of scope and it will be very interesting to see how the market speaks about his chance. Royal Lustre has been well beaten in all three starts to date and has plenty of improvement to find. However, John Gosden does have the knack of bringing the best out of a colt of his type and it will be disappointing if he cannot win a race somewhere along the line. Being a half-brother to Lammtarra has not helped him so far though and he again may find one too good today. Which we think will be Maid To Treasure, who will have no problems with the trip or ground today. Her latest start is working out quite well and, as the daughter of Rainbow Quest receives the handy 5lb fillies allowance, she is going to be very hard to master this afternoon.
