In depth

Verdict

Barbara Hepworth was a 33/1 chance on her debut in what looked a strong Ascot fillies' maiden but belied her odds with a fine effort though that was on fast ground over the minimum. Natalie's Joy is a half-sister to five winners, most of them useful, and her yard has a fine record on this track, while Mick Channon's youngsters continue to run well though Patchouli is bred for much further. Pimlico Pleaser is very speedily-bred and her stable remains in top form, a remark that also applies to Clive Cox' yard and Swift And Sure looks another nice addition as she's related to four winners. ZALPA cost a whopping 500,000gns and is a half-sister to a Grade 3 winner in Canada and out of a Grade 1 winning miler in the USA. She's taken to make a successful start.
