In depth

Verdict

Goldhill Prince has won his last two starts in sellers over six furlongs and should not be inconvenienced by the drop to the minimum trip in a race where the opposition is thin on the ground, with Straffan and Procrastinate rated the main dangers. The selection had shown signs of ability in maidens prior to being dropped into this grade, in which he has recorded easy successes at Ripon and Ayr. The son of Prince Sabo has shown plenty of speed in those races and Goldhill Prince should have too much ability for his rivals today. Straffan showed her best form when chasing home Ronnies Lad in a claimer at Newcastle last month and is entitled to be thereabouts on that evidence. She rates a bigger threat than Procrastinate, who is held by Straffan on running at Newcastle but who hails from a stable very much in form at present. Alan Berry's Kristikhab takes a drop in class but has to give weight away all round, so a bigger threat my come from Pat Haslam's Canary Dancer, who should strip fitter for his recent debut. However, Goldhill Prince sets a decent standard and should take all the beating.
