In depth

Verdict

Hurlingham still looks fairly treated on a mark of 78 however MERCHANT OF DUBAI was impressive when romping home at Musselburgh and can follow up here. Well supported last time, the selection has a 6lb penalty for that Edinburgh win and that may not be enough to stop him following up. Lochiel was poor last time but the ground was very testing and he is a lot better than that; he may be high enough in the weights at present but he should still be competitive. Channel Crossing is 7lbs out of the weights so despite his consistent profile he is opposable, as is Mirjan who returns from a break. Always Bold and Zeitgeist are course and distance winners but the latter has been off the track for a long long time. Acropolis has a tough task under top weight, so a bigger danger could be Hurlingham. Mick Easterby's charge is on a roll and if the market speaks in his favour then it would take a brave punter to oppose, however we are both brave and stupid and we will side with Merchant Of Dubai.
