      Verdict

RIVAL, the first foal to race of a Listed winner, made a very promising start here behind the more-experienced William Bligh, who placed in a Goodwood nursery last week off a mark of 87. Granted normal progress, Andrew Balding’s colt will be fancied to go one better but there are several nicely-bred newcomers in opposition. Eagle Terrace is a son of Gleneagles and a half-brother to a winning miler and Broomy Law is by the same sire and a half-brother to two winners. Richard Kingscote prefers The Nu Form Way to stablemate Astronomic Choice and he may be the pick of the remainder.
