Verdict

Only a neck separated Adjuvant and Inverness when they were third and fourth respectively in the Melrose at York two weeks ago. Both should again beat Temporize and go on the shortlist but SPEYCASTER was slowly away and met trouble in-running when fourth behind Nathanael Green over course and distance in July. Ralph Beckett’s gelding has had a light campaign to date and the booking of Hollie Doyle catches the eye. Rushford beat Pons Aelius over this trip at Sandown two runs ago and the latter was beaten by Thundering over 1m4f at Newcastle before that. Irish Lullaby, Tamilla, Sophiesticate and Sarsons Risk are all chasing a three-timer and Open Champion could be anything after just the three career starts. Jacovec Cavern was also a winner last time but Post Impressionist will have stamina to prove.
