In depth

Verdict

Stephano romped home at Redcar two days ago and looks set to go well in a bid to follow up, with Hilltop Rhapsody, Keeper's Lodge, and, possibly, Patrixtoo, Captain Marryat and Miss Inca others to look out for. The Barry Hills-trained selection stepped up on previous efforts to score at Redcar and, given that he will arrive here in very good heart, has to go well from what now seems a very generous mark. Keeper's Lodge made late headway in very testing conditions at Chester last time and looks to have further improvement in him and, along with Patrixtoo, who seemed to show improved form at Yarmouth last time, and Captain Marryat, whose three latest efforts at a mile have all been solid and who now steps up in trip, has to hold claims here. Hilltop Rhapsody could also be of interest as she beat fair type in John Gosden's Liberty Flag at Windsor in July and, although she has not been seen since, is possibly the type to run well fresh. Of the others, Santa Caterina ought to be capable of a lot of improvement but, for the winner, we return to Stephano.
