In depth

Verdict

Only Alzerra and Massenzio of the 15 runners lining up here have seen a racecourse previously and, while experience may be an advantage, it may pay to side with one of the newcomers with Scarlet Baby preferred to Majounes Song. The last mentioned makes plenty of appeal on pedigree but trainer Mark Johnston does not have many first time out two-year-old winners so she may be best watched. The Barry Hills-trained Cumin is another well bred filly and the daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus has to be noted, while Bollin Freddie is another that may need more time. Paint For Pleasure and Cape Jasmine are other newcomers worthy of a mention, while Alzerra has the best form among the two to have raced previously. The vote though goes to Scarlet Baby, who was a cheaply purchased son of Elmaamul but has joined a yard that can do no wrong with their youngsters at present and he may be another winner in waiting for Kevin Ryan.
